MACCC Players of the Week - February 24
Women's Basketball
Kamaiyah Pruitt, Copiah-Lincoln Community College
(So., F - Pass Christian, Mississippi, 23)
Kam Pruitt had a solid week for the Lady Wolves as she narrowly missed averaging a double-double for the week. The sophomore forward from Pass Christian started her week with a 14-point, five rebound game against Jones and then followed up with a 21-point, nine rebound performance in the Lady Wolves win against Southwest leading all players in both categories. She then finished her week with a 15-point, 15-rebound double double against Northwest. For the week she averaged 16.7 points per game and 9.7 rebounds per game while shooting 54.5% from the floor.
Men's Basketball
Daijon Leatherman, Pearl River Community College
(Fr, F/C - Slidell, La., 23)
Daijon Leatherman (Slidell, La.) averaged 20.5 points and 16 rebounds last week for Pearl River. Against Jones College, Leatherman had a 20-20 game, finishing with 22 rebounds and 20 points.
Softball Pitcher
Addison Lindley, Copiah-Lincoln Community College
(So., P/INF - Madison, Mississippi, 23)
Addison Lindley had a great week in the circle for the Lady Wolves as they went 5-0. The sophomore from Madison started her week with a complete game shutout over Baton Rouge with four hits and five strikeouts in six innings. Lindley then got her second win of the week with a complete game effort against No. 5 Des Moines Area allowing one earned run on one hit with one strikeout and then finished her week picking up her second save of the season with two innings of scoreless and hitless relief against No. 17 North Iowa Area with four strikeouts. For the week, she finished with one earned run across 15 innings pitched with 10 strikeouts and a 0.47 era with two wins and one save.
Softball Player
Adin Shelton, Northeast Mississippi Community College
(Sophomore, IF - Brighton, Tenn., 12)
Adin Shelton had 10 hits across eight games for Northeast, which went 7-1 on the week with two wins over nationally ranked opponents. Of note, Shelton became what is believed to be the first player in program history to hit four home runs in a single game when she did so in game one of a doubleheader sweep of Pellissippi State.
Baseball Pitcher
Riley Hall, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College
(Fr, RHP - Mobile, Ala., 10)
Riley Hall, a freshman right-hander from Mobile, Ala., went eight innings to beat Southwest Mississippi 5-4. Allowing three runs, he struck out eight while allowing just four hits.
Baseball Position
Ryan Nelson, East Central Community College
(So, INF/RHP - Vicksburg, MS, 1)
Ryan Nelson (Vicksburg, MS) powered East Central to a 6-0 week, highlighted by a two-home run performance in a 12-1 win over Mississippi Delta. Nelson hit .538 for the week with three doubles and two home runs, driving in 10 runs while scoring nine times. He added four stolen bases and consistently delivered in key moments, including production in a 16-6 win over #7 Southeastern. Nelson's combination of power, speed, and timely hitting anchored one of the most explosive offensive weeks in the NJCAA.
